Pratt man guilty of one charge in offense against a child
A jury has found Dashaun Howling, 28 of Pratt, guilty of aggravated criminal sodomy with a child. Judgment was handed down on May 5 in Pratt County District Court. Howling was also charged with rape but the jury found him not guilty on that charge. It started out as a break-in to a vehicle in the Pratt Regional Medical Center parking lot and has led to a quartet of suspects being arrested in Dodge City. Pratt man arrested after month-long Pratt Police investigation
Chris Gould, 25 of Pratt, was arrested June 29 in Pratt in connection with illegal drugs and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Pratt Police, Kansas Department of Corrections, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the U.S. Marshall's Office and Pratt County Sheriff's Office were all involved in this case.

Firefighters douse fires under power line
Firefighters were called to three fires on West First Street just west of Pratt on Wednesday afternoon. Mark McManaman, administrator of Emergency and Medical Services for Pratt County thought the fires that were all directly under a power line, were started when the lines overheated from heavy use and sparked, Pratt County Sheriff Vernon Chinn said. Firefighters were on scene about an hour.
